New Rochelle cop investigated in alleged rape of teen

The New Rochelle Police Department is investigating one of its own after a 17-year-old girl accused an officer of rape.
During a news conference Thursday, police revealed a sergeant with nine years on the force has been accused in the case. Investigators say the alleged incident began when the sergeant responded to a domestic dispute call last Friday night. The 17-year-old girl, who is an illegal immigrant, claims the sergeant returned to her home later that night after his shift ended and raped her.The police commissioner says the accusations were made when the girl visited the Westchester County District Attorney?s Office the following Monday in an attempt to get the charges against her live-in boyfriend dropped. Police say because of the delay in reporting the alleged crime, no rape kit was performed on the girl. However, police say they did collect other physical evidence, which is now at the county's crime lab.
The police sergeant?s locker, vehicle and home have been searched after a judge signed warrants. The accused cop has been suspended with pay during the internal investigation.
