Cops allegedly stumble on arsenal in Yonkers home
Detectives say they stumbled on an arsenal of weapons when they executed a search warrant at the home of a Yonkers man.
Police say 9 mm handguns, AR-15 assault rifles, Israeli-made UZI submachine guns and enough ammo to start a war were found in the Abner Place home of Michael Auresto. Police say they also discovered silencers, stun guns and blow guns.
Police were armed with a search warrant hoping to find evidence linking Auresto to an aggravated harassment case involving an Eastchester attorney. Eastchester police say an investigation began last month after the lawyer found the tires on his car slashed not once, but twice. A rock was later thrown through the front window of his home. Auresto was somehow linked to the incidents, according to police.
When Eastchester police developed enough information to obtain a search warrant, they went in backed up by Yonkers police.
Auresto is charged with criminal possession of weapons and criminal possession of a forged instrument. Police say he was found with a fraudulent out-of-state driver's license.
