Details emerge about officer accused of rape

New details emerged Friday in the case of a New Rochelle police sergeant accused of raping a teen.
News 12 Westchester has confirmed Sgt. David Rodriguez is under investigation for the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl. Rodriguez has not been charged with any crime, but has been suspended with pay during the probe.
Authorities are looking into a complaint that Rodriguez sexually assaulted the teen early Saturday morning. The alleged incident took place after the officer?s shift ended at midnight. Rodriguez had responded to a domestic dispute call at the teen?s apartment Friday night.
Police say the allegations against Rodriguez came on Monday, when the girl tried to get charges against her boyfriend dropped. They say that is when the teen told authorities that Rodriguez raped her.
The nine-year veteran of the department is the husband of WNBC news anchor Darlene Rodriguez. Authorities say the investigation is active. They have sent physical evidence to the county crime lab, which could eventually be presented to a grand jury.
Rodriguez could not be reached for comment.
