Cops: Family targeted in White Plains home invasion

Police say three suspects in an armed home invasion were friends of the family and were searching for large amounts of cash.

According to police, two Bronx men, Juan Polanco and Carlos Mercado, entered the Sanchez?s Coolidge Avenue home around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday. Police say the men forced family members into one room at gunpoint as they searched the house for money. Police say the suspects knew the Sanchez?s owned ATMs and were looking for cash.

Police say a third man, Leoncio Sosa, remained outside in a getaway vehicle.

The Sanchez?s daughter managed to call 911, which prompted a huge police response. Polanco and Mercado were apprehended fleeing the scene. Police say Sosa turned himself into authorities on Thursday.

All three men are facing burglary charges. Polanco and Mercado are also facing criminal possession of a weapon charges.

Police are sending the weapons they recovered to the Westchester County and federal ballistics labs to determine if the guns have been used in any other crimes in the country.
