Westchester cleans up during calm after storm

At least 3,500 customers remained without power Sunday following a storm that snapped trees and downed power lines across Westchester and the Hudson Valley.
At the height of the rainfall and wind, more than 10,000 power outages were reported in the area. The cleanup began Sunday amid clear skies. Crews brought out chainsaws and other equipment.
In Ardsley's Macy Park, a huge evergreen tree came toppling down, as well as a lamppost. Damage also occurred in at least six other locations, including the corner of Edgewood Avenue and Great Oak Lane in Pleasantville, where the top half of a tree snapped off.
"No light, no electricity, no vacuuming," said Joan Friedman, who had to rely on her fireplace to keep warm. "I've got on long underwear, a top and bottom, a turtleneck and a warm sweatshirt."
As of Sunday evening, Con Edison crews did not have a definite time for when power would be completely restored.
