Thruway accident snarls morning traffic

An accident on the New York State Thruway snarled traffic Monday morning and nearly caused an explosion.
The incident occurred in Yonkers near Stew Leonard Drive. The driver of a tractor-trailer, Frank Conover, was heading northbound on the Thruway when he says he saw a black infinity make a dangerous move.
?He was trying to pass a car on the left shoulder by the barrier when he didn?t make it,? Conover says. ?He banged off the barrier, then he went underneath my trailer.?
Conover says the car popped a hole in his fuel tank. The driver of the infinity walked away without injuries. However, Conover says if the truck?s gas tank had been full, the consequences could have been much worse.
Conover suffered a minor injury to his shoulder in the accident.
