Westchester County Airport drill tests readiness
Local emergency agencies held an emergency drill at Westchester County Airport Saturday.
More than 150 volunteers took part in a drill simulating fire resulting from a collision between two school busses and a small plane. Minutes after the accident, several ambulances and other first responders from Westchester were on the scene to treat victims, some of whom were still trapped on the plane.
"What's critical here is that this drill is giving first responders the experience of knowing exactly where to go, what to do, how to stage and how to respond to this incident if it should occur," said John DiBlasi, Deputy Commissioner of Emergency Services.
