Bricks fall 6 stories onto Yonkers sidewalk
Bricks tumbled from a six-story Yonkers office building Thursday, scaring pedestrians.
The unoccupied 45 South Broadway building is located behind City Hall. Firefighters were called to the scene around noon. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Officials closed off traffic on a nearby roadway and blocked off the sidewalk.
Police say the closed areas will remain shut down until structural engineers evaluate the building.
In 2005 and 2006, the front doors were padlocked due to fire code violations such as broken pipes and faulty sprinklers. Records show Solomon Fisher has owned the property since 2006.
