Amicone's plan to change school funding halted

Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone's effort to change how the state gives funding to public schools was dealt a blow Tuesday night.Amicone addressed the City Council, urging it to pass a resolution that would change the state aid formula. He says students in Yonkers currently get thousands of dollars less than other large school districts. But on a 4-3 vote along party lines, the City Council decided to wait before taking any action. Chuck Lesnick, the City Council's president, said everyone agrees on the goal and the outcome, but there is a disagreement on how to achieve it.Some parents told News 12 Westchester that they feel their children will begin to suffer due to politics.
