Yonkers building evacuated after fire

An apartment building in Yonkers was evacuated Wednesday after a fire broke out overnight.

Fire officials say the blaze at 54 Maple St. started in a first-floor apartment, forcing tenants who live on the top floors to climb down a fire escape to get away.

Some tenants in the building will have to wait for repairs and an inspection before they can move back in.
