Funeral held for star lacrosse player

Family and friends packed the Bedford Community Church Wednesday to say a final farewell to a young athlete killed last week.

Brian Crockett, an All-American lacrosse player at Yorktown High School who later went on to star at Syracuse University, was killed March 27 after police say he rear-ended a tractor-trailer on I-95 in Ridgefield Park, N.J.

"Ready to come into his own at the age of 26, to lose his life in such a tragic way, it's just difficult to accept," says the Rev. Dwight Ford, a friend of the Crockett family.

Crockett was later buried at the Amawalk Hills Cemetery.
