Man accused of flashing laser at chopper

A Yonkers man was taken into custody Monday for allegedly flashing a laser pointer at a Westchester County police helicopter.
Police say the helicopter was patrolling the area above a Yonkers neighborhood April 18 when 37-year-old Juan Burgos flashed the laser at the aircraft. Burgos was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment.
"They could lose the ability to see their surrounding[s] ultimately since they're in the air," says Detective Israel Lopez, of the Westchester County Police, referring to helicopter pilots. "If they can't control their aircraft, there is potential to cause serious physical injury."
Burgos is expected to be arraigned June 1.
