Police: Man's kidnap attempt thwarted

Police say an attempt was made to abduct a Yonkers teenager early Sunday, but the girl managed to break free and avoid being kidnapped.

According to police, the 14-year-old girl was walking to a friend's house on Linden Street just after midnight when a man grabbed her and began making violent threats.

Police say the 30-year-old suspect grabbed the girl and a struggle ensued. The girl got away and called authorities.

Police charged the man with several felony charges including kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child.
