Services held for volunteer firefighter
Family and friends gathered in Mount Kisco Thursday to mourn a volunteer firefighter from Yonkers who died while trying to help a stranded motorist.
Kevin Ryan, 44, was on his way back from a trip when he spotted an overturned car on Route 23 in the Catskills. Ryan apparently stepped over a concrete construction barrier to reach the motorist, but failed to see a gap and fell 47 feet to the rocks below.
A wake and funeral service for Ryan will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Cassidy Flynn Funeral Home in Mount Kisco. The interment ceremony will be private.
