Hispanic and immigrant leaders on Monday denounced comments made by the Republican candidate for Westchester County executive, Rob Astorino, that they say were derogatory.
During a recent interview, Astorino, in addressing rising property taxes, suggested that illegal immigrants were partly to blame.
The Latino leaders who spoke Monday said Astorino's comments were unacceptable, discriminatory and misinformed. Astorino insists his words are being taken out of context.
