Police: Hotel slaying not a random act

Police in Rye Brook say the murder of a Florida man staying at a local hotel was not a random attack.

Police have ruled out the family of Ben Novack Jr. as suspects in his death at the Hilton Rye Town. Autopsy results revealed Novack was bludgeoned to death Sunday with a blunt instrument.

Novack was the son of Ben Novack Sr., who owned the famed Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. The hotel has been used in Hollywood films and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

AP wire services were used in this report.
