Police: Man struck by boat propeller

A Mahopac man remains hospitalized after a serious boating accident over the weekend.

Police say 20-year-old John Benack suffered injuries to his abdomen and legs after being struck by a boat propeller while swimming in Lake Mahopac off South Lake Boulevard.

Police say the driver of the boat that hit Benack, 19-year-old Sidney Haitoff, is facing several charges including boating while intoxicated and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Benack had surgery at Westchester Medical Center.
