Cops: Driver hit officer, then took off

Westchester County police arrested a Pelham man Wednesday night who allegedly hit and injured an officer during a routine traffic stop.

The incident happened just after 8 p.m when the officer pulled over Steven McQuiller on East Lincoln Avenue. Authorities say as the officer approached McQuiller's car, the suspect hit the officer and took off. Witnesses say they saw the suspect rush into an apartment building on Fifth Avenue and First Street in Pelham, where authorities later arrested him.

The struck officer wasn't seriously injured, authorities say.
