Man claims Yonkers cop wrongfully shot him
A Mount Vernon man claims he was shot in the leg by police Thursday night during a drug raid in Yonkers that he had no connection with.
James Overmaras says he was at his ex-girlfriend's house on Brendon Hill when police officers stormed in. Overmaras got scared and ran off, prompting one of the officers to follow him. Overmaras says when he got his cell phone out, the officer shot him.
Authorities remain tightlipped about the incident, only saying that an officer discharged one round, striking a suspect.
Six people, including Overmaras, were arrested during the raid. All the suspects are facing drug charges.
