Elderly man allegedly tries to poison wife
Police say an elderly man tried to poison his wife's drink at a Mohegan Lake restaurant Monday night.
Authorities say they were called to the Charlie Brown's on Route 6 at around 6 p.m. Monday after 82-year-old Rudolph Guarracino, of Mahopac, was seen slipping an unknown substance into his wife's beer, making her ill. Officers say Guarracino confessed to trying to sicken his 55-year-old wife. She was taken to a local hospital for testing.
Police say the woman filed for an order of protection, which Guarracino has already violated. He is charged with attempted assault in the third-degree.
