A fast-moving summer storm swept through the Hudson Valley region Friday, downing trees, leaving thousands of residents without power and possibly churning up a tornado.
Yorktown Heights was one of the towns hardest hit. Residents on Crescent Drive reported damage in scattered spots on their street.
Gusts of wind pulled down dozens of power lines, in some cases flinging live wires across busy highways like Route 17M in Chester. Numerous roads in Middletown and Chester were temporarily closed due to storm damage.
Orange and Rockland Utilities says it could take the rest of the weekend to fully restore residents? power.
