Consumers cash in on final 'Clunkers' weekend

With the federal "Cash for Clunkers" program coming to an end, many local dealerships and consumers took advantage of the rebates Sunday.

The last weekend for the billion dollar program kept Yonkers dealerships busy. By Friday, the government's Car Allowance Rebate Program had received applications for half a million cars.

According to Frank Lombardo, General Manager of Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Yonkers, the program was a success and should have started even sooner.

"Cash for Clunkers" will officially end Monday at 8 p.m.
