Burned-out home called rat-infested drug den

Residents of a Mount Vernon street say a drug- and rodent-infested home that was supposed to be demolished a year ago is still standing.

The South 3rd Avenue home was expected to be razed after it was gutted by a fire in October 2008, residents say. The home soon became overrun by rats and drug dealers, they say.

City officials say the home's landlord, Stephen Chullickel, has three to four months to tear the building down, or the city will do the job itself - and send the bill to Chullickel.
