Mount Vernon man found stabbed to death

Police say a 21-year-old Mount Vernon man was stabbed to death early Sunday morning.

Police say Kasun Cane was stabbed in the chest at about 2:30 a.m. on 7th Avenue. Authorities say no one called 911 and that police actually stumbled upon Cane's body. Cane was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where he died in the middle of surgery.

Police Commissioner David Chong says his department needs the public to step up and help them solve the crime.

"We didn't receive any 911 calls," Chong says. "Please continue to help us."
