Rye police warn families of home burglaries

Rye police issued an urgent warning to families this weekend after about 10 homes were robbed this past week.

Police say thieves are breaking into people?s cars, stealing garage door openers and entering their homes. One resident says a thief found a hidden garage door opener to break into her house, steal her husband? s wallet and other items from his office.

Authorities claim they have been tracking break-ins since Sept. 11 in several other Rye neighborhoods.

Officials in Greenwich, Conn. have seen many similar thefts and are working with Rye police to find any connections.
