Cops: Distracted driver hits tree in Harrison

Police say a driver reaching for his cell phone in Harrison Tuesday lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree.

Jonathon Stone, of Katonah, says he tried to grab his cell phone on I-684 and began drifting into the next lane. Stone says he began swerving his Toyota Scion to avoid other vehicles, slammed into a tree and flipped the car on its side.

"I'm still frightened," Stone says. "I'm frightened of all the tickets I'm getting."

Fire officials say it's rare an accident of this type occurs without anyone getting hurt.
