Libya's Gadhafi pitches tent in Bedford

Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has moved into a Bedford mansion he apparently rented for the duration of the United Nations General Assembly, sources say.

Residents living on Sarles Street near Ghadafi's posh temporary dwelling say the Libyan dictator is not welcome in Bedford.

Initially, Gadhafi was supposed to stay in Manhattan, but his request was turned down. The Libyan leader then made arrangements to pitch his tent in Englewood, N.J., but that plan was also scrapped following protests.

Westchester County Executive Andy Spano said in a statement although there is no legal way to prevent Gadhafi from staying in Bedford, he is not welcome in Westchester.
