Police probe Mt. Vernon stabbing
Police say a teenager was stabbed and two others slashed with box cutters when a melee broke out outside Mount Vernon High School Tuesday.
According to police, several small fights that began just after school let out at around 3:30 p.m. escalated into a full-fledged brawl at South 7th Avenue and 4th Street allegedly involving about 300 students.
Police say the 17-year-old stabbing victim was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and is expected to recover.
Police are trying to determine if the fight was gang-related. Two teenagers were taken into custody following the incident, but no arrests have been made.
