Police capture suspect after 2-hour standoff
Police captured a robbery suspect who the say barricaded himself inside a Spring Valley home Thursday morning following a two-hour standoff.
The incident started at around 8 a.m., when Zephaniah Seward, 20, who is wanted in connection with the robbery of a pizza delivery man, locked himself inside a Prospect Gardens townhouse on Prospect Street.
Fearing the suspect in armed, police and a SWAT team evacuated residents and shut down surrounding streets while hostage negotiators talked to the suspect.
Seward eventually surrendered and was taken to the Spring Valley police station for questioning.
Police say Seward and two others have been arrested and charged with second-degree robbery.
