Trailer hits Bronx River Pkwy. overpass
Another truck driver following a GPS device drove on the Bronx River Parkway and hit an overpass Friday, bringing traffic to a standstill for hours.
The incident occurred at around 6 a.m. when the southbound tractor-trailer slammed into the westbound exit ramp for the Cross County Parkway.
Traffic was backed up not only on the Bronx River Parkway, but also on the Cross County and the Sprain Brook parkways for nearly three hours while emergency crews worked to drag away the wrecked trailer. The truck was transporting miscellaneous items, including army surplus.
The driver was not injured in the accident. He was issued several tickets.
