Yanks beat Angels in game 1 of ALCS

(AP) - On a blustery night more suited to bobsleds thanbaseballs, CC Sabathia pitched eight innings of four-hit ball towin his second straight postseason start and the New York Yankeestook advantage of a rare sloppy night by the Los Angeles Angels ina 4-1 victory Friday.

The Angels looked like chilled Californians withering in theunseasonable wintry weather, making three errors that led to twounearned runs and allowing an infield popup to drop untouched foran RBI single by Hideki Matsui.

Sabathia gave up a double and three singles, struck out sevenand walked one, going to a three-balls count just twice.

Mariano Rivera finished for his record 36th postseason save, hissecond this year.
