Police: Cortlandt mom lied about dog attack
A Cortlandt Manor mother has been charged Wednesday with lying to police for telling them a stray dog attacked her 2-year-old daughter.
The attack happened Sept. 16 at the home of 44-year-old Victoria San Juan. At the time, she told authorities a pit bull wandered into her backyard and bit her child on her face and head.
Officers scoured the area in search of the dog for two days before San Juan admitted that it was the family's Husky that attacked her daughter.
San Juan was charged with falsely reporting an incident. If convicted, she could face up to a year in prison. She is due back in court Oct 30.
