Another candidate enters state Senate race

Westchester County Legislator Mike Kaplowitz (D-N.Y.) formally announced yesterday afternoon he will seek to replace veteran state Senator Vincent Leibell, who isn't running for re-election.

Assemblyman Greg Ball (R-N.Y.), his opponent, is now threatening to sue Kaplowitz if he doesn't retract statements from last week accusing the assemblyman of misusing his mailing privileges.

Ball's chief of staff, Jim Coleman, called Kaplowitz a hypocrite for making postings on the Westchester County website aimed at helping his own state Senate bid.
