Yonkers budget committee to review new plan

The Yonkers City Council Budget Committee is scheduled to review Mayor Phil Amicone?s budget plan today, as a new website is launched for New York residents to voice their economic concerns.

Amicone?s budget plan includes laying off 788 workers, cutting government services and raising property taxes by 4 percent in an effort to avoid a looming $109 million budget gap.

Delays on an official state budget in Albany have meant that many municipalities still do not know if they will receive any state aid.

The Business Council of New York is launching the website, www.enoughalreadyny.org, for voters to tell local lawmakers exactly how the delays in Albany have affected their lives.
