White Plains honored with green star award

The city of White Plains is being honored with a green star award for being environmentally friendly.

The city is getting the award because for the past three years, their sanitation trucks have been using bio-diesel fuel, a fuel which contains 20 percent soybean oil and only 80 percent diesel fuel.

In 1994, White Plains was the first city in New York State to be named a clean city by the U.S. Department of Energy.
