Tractor-trailer spill in Peekskill causes backup

Police are investigating whether excessive speed may have caused a tractor-trailer to roll over this morning, spilling construction debris into busy Annsville Circle just after 9 a.m.

A mountain of debris blocked the southbound entrance to the traffic circle on Roa Hook Road, but the rest of the circle remained open.

DPW crews say they had to deal with a slight fuel spill, but that cleaning up the debris and uprighting the truck could take a few hours.

State Police are also investigating whether an improper load weight could have contributed to the rollover.
