Driver injured after tree falls on cab

A tree fell on a livery cab and another car in Yonkers early yesterday morning injuring the cab driver and totaling his vehicle.

The cab was driving east on Rumsey Road at around 4:30 a.m. when the tree fell. The driver and a female passenger managed to exit the vehicle on their own will.

The driver was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with head injuries.

The tree took down live wires when it fell, briefly knocking out power to much of the area. Authorities say a possible lightning strike caused the tree to fall.
