Astorino announces plan to save NYC express bus

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino announced a plan yesterday that will save Bee-Line express bus service from Westchester to Manhattan from being canceled entirely.

Under the plan, service on the BxM4C bus will continue on weekdays during peak hours, with limited non-peak service. The bus will no longer run on weekends, and in September, fares will increase from $5.50 to $8.50. All discount fares will be ended.

Astorino says that the plan was derived from the suggestions of riders and politicians alike. ?Ultimately, much will depend on whether there are enough riders to keep the route viable.?
