Police: Ossining man tried to strangle wife

An Ossining husband was arraigned yesterday on an attempted murder charge for allegedly trying to strangle his wife.

Ossining police say they were called to a Dale Avenue home earlier this week. When officers reached a second-floor bedroom, they say they found a semi-conscious woman.

Authorities arrested Sylvio Zhinin, 31, and charged him with the attempted murder of his wife, 24-year-old Monica Zhinin. Officials say he tried to choke the woman using an electrical cord during a domestic dispute.

Police say the woman was taken to Westchester County Hospital, where she was treated and released.

Zhinin remains behind bars on $250,000 bail. He's due back in court Tuesday.
