WC upgrades bomb squad after Times Sq. plot

Following Saturday's foiled Times Square bombing plot, Westchester County officials are stepping up efforts to upgrade the county's bomb squad.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino says despite the current budget crisis, safety comes first. The county's bomb squad is now training to respond to car bombs and will soon receive new equipment.

Westchester leaders say the attempted terrorist attack allegedly perpetrated by Faisal Shahzad shows the importance of vigilant local law enforcement.

Westchester County Police Commissioner George Longworth says the county has recently consolidated all its intelligence-collecting agencies at the Westchester Intelligence Center in White Plains to facilitate information exchange.
