Cop recovers after I-287 chain-reaction crash

A state trooper is recovering, along with a young mother and her child, after police say a van full of teenagers caused a chain-reaction crash on I-287 last night.

Investigators say three White Plains teens in a van crashed into a Honda Accord with a mother and child inside. The Accord then slammed into the rear of a State Police cruiser, backing up traffic for miles.

The trooper, mother and child all were taken to White Plains Hospital and released.

Speed does not appear to have been a factor, as all three vehicles were moving at the time of the crash.

It's unclear if the teenage driver involved will face any charges in the crash.
