Rockland County adopting 'Silver Alert' system

Rockland County is teaming up with Summit Park Hospital in Pomona to bring the 'Silver Alert System' to the Hudson Valley.

The new alert system would help families in Rockland track down elderly loved ones suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's that have wandered from their residences.

Those who wish to enroll in the program must register their family member, who will then be entered into the sheriff's database.

Chief Louis Falco with the Rockland County Sherriff's Department says that having someone's personal information before they are reported missing will help their investigations.

'Silver Alert' is a free program, and registration forms are available at any local police department or the Rockland sheriff's office.
