Lawmaker: Yonkers employees should help pay for health insurance

A councilwoman wants city employees in Yonkers to help pay for health insurance as the city tries to plug a $109 million budget gap.

Joan Gronowski submitted the resolution that would apply to up to 160 city workers. Union employees already contribute some to their insurance plans.

Gronowski said it's important to let city employees know every avenue available that would help prevent layoffs.
