New season begins at Rye Playland
Hundreds of families turned out at Rye Playland to take part in opening day festivities over the weekend.
Westchester County Executive Rob Astornio cut the red ribbon, signaling the official opening of the park's 82nd season.
Last year the sluggish economy and bad weather kept many visitors away, but county officials say they're confident attendance will improve this year thanks to a new $85 unlimited season pass. Westchester residents are eligible for a $15 discount.
The nation's only county-run amusement park is also unveiling a new seafood restaurant and a tiki bar this season.
