8 cops hurt after Yonkers bar brawl

Eight Yonkers police officers have been placed on inactive duty after they were injured while responding to a bar brawl involving nearly 100 people early Sunday morning.

The fight spilled out into the streets from the South Broadway bar, the Serenity Lounge, around 3 a.m.

Two police officers were injured in a car crash on their way to the melee. Another six officers had to be taken to the hospital after trying to break up the fight.

Neighbors say the area is usually quiet during the day, and that the violence starts at night.

Two people were arrested after the fracas, and all of the officers involved were placed on inactive duty.
