Yonkers bravest protest cuts at City Hall

Dozens of Yonkers bravest protested on the steps of City Hall earlier this week over proposed budget cuts that could force 44 firefighters out of a job.

The firefighters told News 12 they had hoped to discuss the cuts with Mayor Phil Amicone, but were told that he was in another meeting when they showed up.

"I don't want to make these cuts either," Amicone says. "We don't have the money to pay for them, and there's just so much money we can take from the people of Yonkers before they, too, will revolt."

A date is currently being set up so that the mayor and the firefighter union reps can meet and negotiate.
