'Mega' job fair held in Yonkers

A group of some 25 local employers held a business expo and job fair yesterday at the Riverfront Library in Yonkers.

The job fair was the first major event of its kind organized by the Westchester Community Opportunity Program, known as WestCop.

"We have a lot of job fairs throughout the year and decided to have a major one," says Don Brown, of WestCop.

Among the employers represented at the fair were hotels, retailers and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Many job seekers who turned out for the fair say they have been unemployed for months or years.

WestCop also holds smaller job fairs in its offices in Yonkers twice a month.
