Tree cutter dies on the job in Yorktown

It remains unclear whether a tree cutter who collapsed and died this morning in Yorktown was electrocuted or if he died from natural causes.

Emergency responders say 34-year-old John Burke, of Buchanan, was killed instantly while clearing tree branches away from utility lines on the corner of Route 132 and Wren Place at around 8:30 a.m.

Paramedics who arrived on the scene tried to revive Burke, but were not able to. He was pronounced dead at Hudson Valley Hospital.

An investigation into the death has been launched by Yorktown police, Con Edison and OSHA. So far, no cause of death has been released by police.
