Obama praises Times Square bomb responders

(AP) - President Barack Obama thanked the New YorkCity police officers who responded to the May 1 attempted bombingof Times Square.

White House spokesman Bill Burton says Obama told the officersThursday that the city's anti-terrorism efforts are a model for therest of the country.

A Pakistani-born U.S. citizen is accused of trying to detonate abomb-laden vehicle in Times Square.

Obama was in New York for a Democratic congressional fundraiser.He traveled to Buffalo earlier in the day to discuss the economy.
