Obama: Pres., country proud of NYPD
President Obama was in New York City yesterday and personally thanked members of the NYPD for their response to the failed Times Square terror plot.
"The country is proud of you," Obama said. "I know your mayor and commissioner are proud of you, and your president is proud of you."
Obama's comments come only days after the White House refuted claims that security funding to New York City's ports and transportation hubs would be cut drastically.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the city gets $42 million less in transit and $11 million less in security grants than it did last year.
